Town News
Message from the Mayor
As your Mayor, I want to welcome you to the official website of the Town of Six Mile, South Carolina. On behalf of myself, Town Council, and staff, our goal is to make this website current, interactive and the official voice of our town.

We are a living and working community of approximately 759 residents. Despite changes, our small-town uniqueness remains unwavering. Community events, town projects and pride in our town and its quality of life bind our townsfolk together.

In Six Mile, we pride ourselves on our small-town atmosphere, values, community spirit, volunteerism, civic consciousness, and civility of our townsfolk.

We have multiple projects in process which is amazing for a town of our size. These include our Downtown Park site, our Recreation facility expansion at Ponderosa Park, and Bryson Children's Nature Walk. We may be small in Six Mile, but we think big. Despite an ambitious agenda, we maintain our financial integrity. We urge you to take advantage of our volunteer opportunities and get involved in Six Mile. We need volunteers.

I believe in face-to-face communication, and I will make every effort to make myself available to our citizens. Monthly, I have a "Lunch with the Mayor" event to allow citizens the chance to meet with me personally. Never hesitate to sit down for a chat with me then, or any time. I'm excited about our town and its future.

Kindest Regards
James A. Atkinson
Mayor
Donate to Bryson Children's Nature Walk
Bryson Children's Nature Walk is a 63 acre site donated to and owned by the Town of Six Mile with greenspace protections maintained via a Conservation Easement with the Land Trust Non-Profit, Upstate Forever. Upstate Forever manages and monitors the site for compliance with the Conservation Easement. In addition, Upstate Forever will also approve site practices and provide advice on potential grant funding opportunities for perpetuity. A Forest Management Plan/Site Plan maps out site usage and greenspace/water quality preservation practices in compliance with the Conservation Easement. Plans for the site include greenspace and water quality protection, trails, a boardwalk and overlook at the pond area, a garden area for children's onsite experience with garden vegetables, and ultimately a Children's Outdoor Nature Learning Center.
Donations for this project are welcome and can be made to the Town of Six Mile FBO Bryson Children's Nature Walk.
